Our Story

Our journey began in early 2011 when Chris Brown founded Brown & Co Properties Ltd. Chris’s immersion in the property market started with the completion of the Certificate in Mortgage Advice in 2010 while working within the family-run mortgage practice, JB Mortgage Solutions. The strategic location of our large office in Whitburn has been instrumental in establishing and growing our business. Offering impartial mortgage advice to both buyers and sellers, our clients benefit from a valuable service consolidated under one roof.

Entrepreneurial Support

Embarking on any new venture brings both challenges and excitement. Chris sought guidance from the Business Gateway, leading him to the Scottish charity, PSYBT. Dedicated to supporting young entrepreneurs, PSYBT played a crucial role in Brown & Co Properties’ early days. From crafting a solid business plan to presenting before a panel of PSYBT members, Chris received invaluable assistance every step of the way. Their aftercare service continues to provide essential support through advice and bookkeeping workshops, making them an indispensable resource for aspiring young entrepreneurs.

Evolution and Focus

Despite economic challenges, Brown & Co Properties has thrived, becoming a prominent presence in West Lothian. Over the years, we’ve witnessed an active property market in the region, with demand consistently outpacing supply. Our commitment to excellence is evident as we navigate changing market dynamics. In September 2018, we made the strategic decision to shift our focus solely to property sales, exiting the rental market. This transition reflects our dedication to meeting the evolving needs of our clients and maintaining our position as a trusted entity in the West Lothian property landscape. We extend our gratitude to clients who have been part of our journey, especially those in letting, and appreciate their loyalty and understanding as we took this significant step forward.

2024 has brought the latest evolution of the business as we move out of our home and base at Whitburn town centre into the exciting retail parade within Heartlands. The development is one of the largest regeneration projections in Europe and we have taken an active interest in its growth since the outset, helping many home owners move to and within the area. Now placing ourselves alongside national recognised brands, it gives us great pride to help the estate grow to the next stage.
